Justice Paul Thissen will provide information about the background of the Legal Paraprofessional Pilot Program that started in Minnesota in March 2021.  The pilot allows qualified paralegals to appear with clients in court and provide legal advice in eviction matters and certain family law matters.  In those types of cases, the vast majority of clients today appear without a lawyer.  Justice Thissen will describe how the pilot program works, the goals of the pilot program, and answer questions about it.
