The April closing of six local newspapers has increased awareness of the crisis in local journalism facing many Minnesota communities.  In response to the loss of their respective local papers, citizen-led groups in Eden Prairie, Woodbury, Prior Lake, and others are devoting volunteer effort to establish nonprofit, nonpartisan, independent, hyperlocal, online newsrooms in their communities.
